NASA lunar orbiter given a broader objective than its predecessors: a systematic photographic survey of lunar surface features to increase scientific knowledge of their nature, origin, and processes. It returned 419 high resolution and 127 medium resolution frames covering 99% of the Moon's near side at 58 to 134 meter resolution before contact was lost on 17 July 1967.
